Comparative Analysis
The overall scope of the Comperative Analysis (CA) was to conclude to a Final Recommendation Action Plan to improve ERA Coordination in the field of Networked Enterprise and its key areas.
The CA was conducted increamentally throughout the ERA Study`s lifetime and was delivered in a stepwise manner including three versions (i.e. 1st, 2nd and Final Version).
The 1st Version of the Comparative Analysis targeted to provide an initial set of recommended actions. These actions were discussed with European, national and regional authorities during the ERA Study`s Coordination activities and an updated report was elaborated in January 2008.
The 1st Version of the Comparative Analysis targeted to provide an initial set of recommended actions. These actions were discussed with European, national and regional authorities during the ERA Study`s Coordination activities and an updated report was elaborated in January 2008.
The 2nd Version of the Comparative Analysis concluded on a set of prominent research areas for coordination actions in the ICT field of Networked Enterprise and proposed a Draft Coordination Action Plan to improve ERA Coordination in the field. It put the emphasis on the mapping / comparison of the relevant to the Networked Enterprise field and to its four key areas, European, national and regional ICT policies, research programmes and their technologies / research areas of focus as those were identified within the respective policy / programme documents. It also took into account the research areas that were expected to be of special interest for the Member States in the near future, as those were suggested by Member States policy makers and research programmes owners from EU27 (i.e. key persons from research ministries and agencies, etc) and actors of the research / industrial communities active in the field.
The Final Version of the Comparative Analysis summarised the outcome of the comparative analysis that was performed among the main European, national (EU27 + Turkey) and regional ICT policies/priorities and research initiatives/programmes that were found relevant to the field of Networked Enterprise.
The report identified the common interests and potential synergies among the Member States (i.e. potential research areas of common interest) and concluded with a short list of ‘prominent Networked Enterprise research areas’ for future ERA coordination actions. Furthermore, it briefly commented on the outcome of former ERA coordination activities in the field, presented good practices, and concluded with strengths and weaknesses, missing activities and key success factors for the future.
Finally, it recommended a set of ERA coordination actions, in the form of an ERA Coordination Action Plan in the field of Networked Enterprise (2008-13).
